College and beyond
From that year on, I went on to get my B.A. from Sacramento State College in Government and was an intern in the State Capitol for awhile until landing a full-time position as a youth leader for four Methodist Churches on the south side of Sacramento. I built it up from 20 students to over 1,000 kids a week involved in our ministry activities, making it the largest youth outreach in the United States!
After a two-year stint in Seattle as a staff member of Campus Crusade for Christ I was named their National Speaker and traveled all over America speaking in public schools and training over 300 of their staff to do the same.
I left Crusade in 1977, and began Spectrum Ministries of the Arts, training college-age students to learn an artisitc skill such as writing, music, comedy, public speaking and youth ministry. In 1979, I turned over our 16 full-time staff members, got married and moved my wife and I to Hollywood so I could start a more high visibility career:
With no prior experience, I did pretty well. Within four months of moving to Hollywood, I landed an ABC Television's, Kids are People, Too as their resident comedian for three years!
I was also asked to host a local teenage talk show in LA called, "Teen Scene." The first year I hosted the program it won its first Emmy Award. We had a variety of guests for young people like Magic Johnson, Justine Bateman ("Family Ties), Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Moon Unit Zappa and a host of others.
After I left television in 1988, I resumed my career as a national speaker and over the years I presented my Humor with a Message Brand to over 7 million people.
In 2014, I returned to my first love: writing.
Since then, I have had over 90 books published for me and as a ghostwriter for dozens of authors helping their dreams come true!
I have been BLESSED to write on a variety of exciting topics. Turn to the next page to view my resume!
